Senators Conclude Week with Loss in Binghamton
December 15, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release
The Belleville Senators fell 3-1 to the Devils Saturday night in its first trip to Binghamton this season.
Marcus Hogberg turned away 16 shots while Adam Tambellini scored for the Sens. Cam Johnson made 16 saves for Binghamton as John Ramage, Nathan Bastian, Michael McLeod scored.
Belleville came out strongly and twice were denied on good opportunities inside the opening four minutes: first by Logan Brown on a rebound in close before Tobias Lindberg hit the post after some nice work by Justin Auger.
But the inability to score cost Belleville as Binghamton struck first at 5:39 through Ramage's fourth of the season for a 1-0 lead.
The Sens nearly found an equalizer through blueliner Christian Wolanin who wired a one-timer off the post after an outstanding set-up by Logan Brown but Belleville would be further undone less than 30 seconds later as Bastian pushed the Binghamton lead to 2-0 with a low wrister at 6:18.
Despite falling down by a pair, the Sens picked themselves up and got on the board less than two minutes later as Tambellini wired a one-timer from the slot off of a nice pass from the corner by Wolanin.
Binghamton looked to have pushed its lead to 3-1 through Eric Gryba as he scored from centre ice but the goal was waved off, although no reason was given by the officials with 10:17 left in the third.
The Devils sealed the win through a McLeod empty-net goal with 2:40 left.
Belleville returns to the ice on Wednesday as they face the Rochester Americans. The Senators are home Dec. 27 against the Laval Rocket and tickets are available.
