Season Opens October 10th at the Bradley Center
July 31, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee Admirals Executive Vice President/General Manager Phil Wittliff today announced that the Admirals open their third American Hockey League season Friday, October 10th when Claude Noel makes his head-coaching debut against the Toronto Roadrunners at the Bradley Center. It's the second straight year that a brand new Admirals' head coach has faced a brand new AHL team. Last year, Peter Horachek and the Admirals welcomed the San Antonio Rampage into the league. The Admirals will play 21 of their 40 home games on either a Friday or Saturday.
Home Schedule
Fourteen of the 27 other AHL teams will visit the Bradley Center this season. Along with the Roadrunners first ever visit to the Bradley Center, the St. John's Maple Leafs will also play their first game ever in Milwaukee when they play at the Bradley Center November 26th.
The Admirals will play Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, and Utah five times each in Milwaukee. The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and Grand Rapids Griffins will make four visits each to the Bradley Center.
Milwaukee's longest home stand comes in February when the team plays five straight games at the Bradley Center. The team will also open the season with a four-game home stand.
Road Schedule
The Admirals will play a franchise record eight games in Canada this season. Their two games in St. John's Newfoundland at the end of October will mark the farthest east the Admirals have ever played. Although the team will not have a road trip of longer than four games, the Admirals will play 10 of their 15 March games on the road. Milwaukee will play five games each in Chicago, San Antonio, Utah and Houston during the course of the season. Bradley Center Game Times
Face-off time for evening home games is 7:00 pm with the exception of Saturday March 6th (8:00pm). Three Saturday afternoon games are scheduled for 1:30pm. The game against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday, January 25th will begin at 2:00pm and the start time for the game against the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday, February 22nd will begin at 4:00pm. Conference Alignment
The American Hockey League will be divided into four divisions and two conferences for the 2003-2004 season. The Admirals will once again compete in the West Division of the Western Conference. They will be teamed with traditional rivals Chicago, Grand Rapids, Houston and Utah as well as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and San Antonio Rampage. Milwaukee will only play two games outside of the Western Conference. Those two games will be played against the Philadelphia Phantoms. The other division in the Western Conference includes teams in the North Division (Cleveland, Hamilton, Manitoba, Rochester, St. John's, Syracuse, and Toronto). Five teams from each division will qualify for the playoffs.
