
Pittsburgh Penguins Agree to Terms with Rico Fata, Toby Peter sen and Rob Scuderi

PITTSBURGH - The Penguins have agreed to terms with three players - forwards Rico Fata and Toby Petersen and defenseman Rob Scuderi - it was announced today by Penguins General Manager Craig Patrick. In accordance with club policy, terms of the contracts were not released.
Fata, 23, appeared in 27 games last season with the Penguins after being acquired from the New York Rangers on February 10th. He recorded 13 points (5+8) and 10 penalty minutes with the Penguins. Fata established career highs last season in goals (7), assists (12), points (19) and games played (63) splitting the season with the Penguins and Rangers.
The 6-0 and 200 pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was originally drafted by Calgary in the first round (6th overall) of the 1998 Entry Draft. He has played in 100 career games, recording 20 points (7+13) and 26 penalty minutes.
Petersen, 24, played in all 80 games for the Penguins AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, leading the team in goals (31) and points (66). His 31 goals set a new club record. Petersen led the team with 12 power-play goals, ranked second in shots (221), tied for second with three game-winning goals and ranked third in assists.
The 5-9 and 197 pound native of Minneapolis, Minnesota was drafted by the Penguins in the ninth round (244th overall) of the 1998 Entry Draft. Petersen played in 79 games with Pittsburgh in 2001-02, recording 18 points (8+10).
Scuderi, 24, played in 74 games last season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 21 points (4+17) and 44 penalty minutes. Scuderi tied for the team lead with a plus-5 rating and was plus or even in 56 of 74 games.
The 6-0 and 214 pound native of Syosset, New York was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round (134th overall) of the 1998 Entry Draft. Scuderi has played in 149 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during the last two seasons, recording 44 points (5+39) and 110 penalty minutes.
