
Bears Announce 2003-04 Schedule

HERSHEY â The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that the AHL's most storied franchise begins its 66th season in the AHL on Saturday, October 11th. The BEARS will open on the road against the Syracuse Crunch at the Onondaga County War Memorial. HERSHEY will play an 80 game regular season that will conclude on Sunday, April 11th at GIANT Center against the Philadelphia Phantoms.
The BEARS will play the team's second home opener at GIANT Center on Saturday, October 18th against a divisional rival, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Game time on October 18th is 7:00 p.m. October is highlighted by two other home games, with the Rochester Americans making their only HERSHEY appearance of the season on Saturday, October 25th. The Bears will also host the Norfolk Admirals for the first of five games between the two clubs at GIANT Center on Sunday, October 26th.
By the numbers, the BEARS play the most home games in any month in November, when HERSHEY squares off against AHL competition nine times. The BEARS will also play at home eight times during the month of January, while playing a season high nine road games in the month of January as well.
HERSHEY will play a total of 32 games against divisional rivals Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and Norfolk. Philadelphia will make its first GIANT Center appearance on Sunday, November 2nd, while Wilkes Barre/Scranton comes in for the first time on Saturday, November 1st. The schedule also features a number of teams the BEARS did not play in 2002-03. Hartford, Springfield, St. John's, Providence, and Lowell are all coming to play at GIANT Center for the first time in 2003-04.

New for 2003-04 is a change to the game time for all Sunday contests. For the new season, all Sunday games will begin at 5:00 p.m.
The BEARS open up the home portion of the 2003-04 season on Saturday, October 19th at GIANT Center. Season ticket information is available by calling 520-5796. Several different season ticket plans are available. Group sales information for all home games is available now by calling 534-3323. The BEARS will release a schedule of promotional giveaways for all home games in mid-August.
