Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
RECENT ACTION:
Wednesday, November 14 @ Philadelphia: An early start to the day paid off for the Penguins, who posted a 4-1 win in a school day game against the Philadelphia Phantoms. After falling behind, 1-0, after the first period, the Penguins rallied on goals by Connor James, Alex Goligoski, Jon D'Aversa and Jeff Taffe. D'Aversa's goal was his first as a professional.
Saturday, November 17 @ Albany: Kevin Nastiuk stopped 26 Penguins' shots, leading the River Rats to a 4-0 win in Albany. Ty Conklin stopped 20 of 24 shots for the Penguins.
Sunday, November 18 vs. Binghamton: Rookie netminder John Curry stopped 22 of 24 shots in his first AHL game, but the Senators pulled out a 3-0 win in Wilkes-Barre. Binghamton goalie Jeff Glass stopped all 28 shots he faced, handing the Penguins their second consecutive shutout.
UPCOMING ACTION: The Penguins will look to feast on Sharks and Sens this Thanksgiving, as they sandwich a pair of home games around the holiday.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will welcome the Worcester Sharks for their first ever visit to the area on Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Two nights later, the Penguins will get another crack at the Binghamton Senators, who play their third game at Wachovia Arena this season.
The following evening, the Pens and Sens will square off once again, this time in Broome County at 7:05pm. And the weekend concludes with a trip down I-81 to take on the Hershey Bears on Sunday at 5:00pm.

PENGUINS POINTS OF INTEREST:
Defenseman Alain Nasreddine moved into 17th place on the Penguins' all-time games played list on Sunday, as he suited up for his 183rd game in black and gold, one more than Michel Ouellet. He trails Jason MacDonald by four games.
Right wing Jonathan Filewich missed Wednesday's morning tilt with the Philadelphia Phantoms due to injury, bringing his consecutive games played streak to a halt at 93. After missing seven consecutive games due to injury from April 1-14, 2006, Filewich appeared in the Penguins' season finale of the 2005-06 season, and was one of only two Pens to appear in all 80 games for the club last season. He then took part in each of the team's first 12 games this campaign. He ranks tied for 22nd on the team's all-time games played list at 165 (with Guillaume Lefebvre).
Rookie defenseman Jonathan D'Aversa picked up his first career professional point with an assist on Connor James' second period goal Wednesday morning, November 14, in Philadelphia. He went one step further the following period, netting his first professional goal in the 4-1 win.
Ned Havern made his Wilkes-Barre/Scranton debut on November 17 in Albany. The left wing began the season with the Wheeling Nailers, recording 11 points (6+5) in nine games with the ECHL side.
SKILLS ON SCHEDULE:
Tickets for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Skills Competition, presented by Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, will go on sale to the public this coming Saturday, November 24, at 10:00am.
The competition, which will take place on Sunday, December 9 at 5:00pm at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza, pits two teams of Penguins players against each other in events including the hardest shot, puck control relay, rapid fire, fastest skater, pass and score, accuracy shooting and breakaway relay.
The event is run by JRP Group, the same organization which stages the NHL and AHL All-Star Skills Competitions.
Members of area youth hockey teams will be competing alongside their Penguins counterparts, and proceeds from the event will benefit the Penguins United Way Charity Fund, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and local youth hockey organizations.
Penguins season ticket holders can reserve their seats for the event for just $11.00 by contacting their Penguins Account Representatives.
Tickets for the general public are priced at $13.00, and will be available at the Wachovia Arena Box Office, through www.ticketmaster.com, and at all local TicketMaster outlets.
A special pre-sale for the competition will take place during the Penguins' home contests on November 21 and 23, only through the inside box office window at the Wachovia Arena.
