Worcester Sharks Fans Donate Over 2,000 Pounds Of Food For The Friendly Hose Of Worcester

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr has announced that the Worcester Sharks collected over 2,000 pounds of food for the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive during the Sharks game vs. the Pirates on Saturday, November 17th at the DCU Center. The canned food was donated to the Friendly House of Worcester on Monday.

The Sharks nearly tripled the amount which was collected last season, and all fans that donated food received a free ticket voucher to a future Sharks game compliments of Price Chopper. The Worcester Sharks wives and girlfriends, Lambda Chi Alpa Fraternity of WPI, the Worcester County Sheriffs Office, and Friendly House all collected food at the Sharks game on Saturday.

This event was part of a two week long Thanksgiving Food Drive spearheaded by the Worcester County Sheriffs Office which collected over 16,000 pounds of food for the Friendly House of Worcester. The food is to be distributed to needy families in the Worcester area.

The Sharks would like to thank all those who donated food this season to make the event so successful.

Worcester heads to Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for a 7:05 pm showdown with the Baby Penguins on Wednesday evening. The Sharks then battle division rival Manchester on Friday at 7:05 pm before returning to the DCU Center on Saturday, November 24th to square off with the Providence Bruins.

The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Thomas Greiss Bobblehead courtesy of WTAG. Tickets are available through the Sharks offices, and the first 125 fans who purchase a family four pack of tickets for Saturday's contest will receive two FREE passes to Six Flags New England for use during the summer of 2008.
