San Jose Sharks Assign Dimitri Patzold To Worcester For Conditioning Assignment, Recall Thomas Greis

SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Dimitri Patzold to Worcester (AHL) on a conditioning assignment and recalled goaltender Thomas Greiss from Worcester.

Patzold, 24, made his NHL debut this season and has appeared in two games, both in relief of Evgeni Nabokov. In 24 minutes of work, he has yet to record a decision and owns a 2.50 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.

The six-foot, 195-pound native of Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan was selected by San Jose in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft (fourth round, 107th overall).

Greiss, 21, has posted a 6-4-0 record with a .904 save percentage and a 3.15 goals against average for the Worcester Sharks this season. He has yet to appear in an NHL game in his career.

The six-foot-one, 200-pound native of Fussen, Germany was selected by San Jose in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (3rd round, 94th overall).

Worcester heads to Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania for a 7:05 pm showdown with the Baby Penguins on Wednesday evening.

The Sharks then battle division rival Manchester on Friday at 7:05 pm before returning to the DCU Center on Saturday, November 24th to square off with the Providence Bruins. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Thomas Greiss Bobblehead courtesy of WTAG. Tickets are available through the Sharks offices, and the first 125 fans who purchase a family four pack of tickets for Saturday's contest will receive two FREE passes to Six Flags New England for use during the summer of 2008.
