Amerks Prepare For Busy Holiday Week

(Rochester, NY)... After competing in one of the lightest portions of their schedule this season, the Rochester Americans will spend the holiday week on the ice. The Amerks will play three games in as many nights this week, two of which are against North Division opponents.

The three-game stint kicks off with a North Division matchup as Rochester plays host to the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday, November 21st on clevermethod Business Persons Night. Fans can turn in their business cards at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office and receive a $21.00 ticket for just $10.00. The offer is valid for all Amerks home games Monday to Thursday. Further, as a prelude to the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Amerks invite all Rochester area school children, teachers, administrators, school employees and families to attend the Wednesday evening contest at special ticket prices. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The contest will be the fourth of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. In their previous meeting, the Amerks dropped a 6-5 shootout decision on October 19th at The Blue Cross Arena. Rochester is 14-16-1 all-time against Manitoba.

The following night, Rochester will make its first trip of the season to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena to face the Binghamton Senators in a special Thanksgiving Day matchup. The game will be the second of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season. The 6:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. Rochester is 18-17-4 all-time against their East Division rival.

Rochester will return home to The Blue Cross Arena on Friday, November 23rd to welcome the first ever visit from the Lake Erie Monsters. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be the first ever between the two teams.

The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The game ushers in the next installment of the Amerks' "Friday Night Frenzies." Fans can enjoy live music from Deb Magone up until gametime. The contest also falls on Black Friday. Fans who bring in a receipt from a purchase made on Friday can receive a ticket discount. The receipt showing the highest dollar amount wins a prize package.

The Amerks (8-8-1-2, 19 points) are currently in third place in the American Hockey League's North Division standings, four points behind the Manitoba Moose, and five behind the division leading Toronto Marlies. Rochester improved to 8-8-1-2 after earning two points in a 5-4 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Friday night as part of a rare one-game weekend. The game was the first ever between the two teams.

Stefan Meyer and Rob Globke each netted a pair of goals to earn first and second star honors, respectively. Anthony Stewart provided Rochester's fifth goal to secure the win over the Hogs. Amerks netminder David Shantz made 31 saves in goal to earn his first win of the season.

Forward Mark Mancari leads Rochester's current roster offensively with two goals and 13 assists for 15 points. Mancari's 13 assists presently rank him first on the team and eighth in the AHL. Nine of his 13 assists have come on the man advantage this season, good enough for eighth in the league.

Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the Florida Panthers (NHL) have reassigned defenseman Jordan Henry to the Florida Everblades (ECHL). Henry appeared in two games with the Amerks and made his debut in Rochester's 4-0 loss to the Syracuse Crunch on November 10th. The Milo, Alberta, native has recorded one goal and eight penalty minutes in seven games with the Everblades this season.
