Otters Drop Series Finale against Schaumburg

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters (47-44) lost the middle game of the series against the Schaumburg Boomers 14-0 on Saturday night.

First baseman John Nester was 1-for-4 in the game and also threw a hitless top of the ninth inning as well.

Schaumburg went ahead with a solo home run from Bobby Martin in the first and added to the lead with a two-run Steve McQuail home run in the fourth.

Otters starter Evan Mott (1-1) threw 4.0 innings in the game, allowing three runs on four hits.

Down 4-0, Evansville was unable to get a run against pitcher Mike Giovenco who held the Otters to four hits on the night.

Schaumburg scored 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning on their way to a 14-0 victory.

Five Evansville Otters recorded a hit each in the game (Chris Elder, Ryan Kresky, Ricardo Lizcano, Nester, Nick Schwaner).

Evansville will look to finish the series with a win on Sunday night.

It is Eastland Mall weekend at Bosse Field.

Evansville will have right-hander Robert Ramer (3-0, 2.89 ERA) as the probable starter against Schaumburg righty Tony Delmonico (1-1, 4.78 ERA).

First pitch is set for 5:05 pm CDT.

The Otters pregame show starts at 4:45 pm on WUEV 91.5 FM.
