Aviators Drop Series Finale at Gateway 6-21

SAUGET, Ill. - The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, dropped a 6-2 game at GCS Ballpark Sunday night to the Gateway Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies got home runs from Michael Wing, Jet Butler and Alex Guthrie. Landon Hernandez added an RBI sacrifice fly.

Rockford scored its only two runs in the top of the seventh. Michael Hur was hit by a pitch to give the Aviators a leadoff baserunner. After a pair of strikeouts, Elvin Rodriguez hit a double to left that scored Hur from first base and earn the Aviators thier first run of the game. Jeff Kremer followed with an RBI single.

Tim Brown started for Gateway and put on his usual dominant performance. Brown went eight innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out five. He didn't allow a runner to reach second base until the sixth inning and picked up his 13th win of the season.

Nick Anderson pitched five innings for Rockford and allowed three runs on five hits, struck out three and walked four as he took his 10th loss of the season.

After an off-day Monday, the Aviators head to Normal to play the CornBelters on Tuesday to start the final series of the season at 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the game on 100.5 NTA-FM and online at www.rockfordaviators.com.
