Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the American Hockey League have recalled center Aki Seitsonen and goalie Mike McKenna. In separate roster moves, goalie Marc Magliarditi and forward Joe Tallari were both activated off the injured reserve, while defenseman Scott Schoneck was placed on the seven-day injured reserve list.
Aki Seitsonen heads back to Omaha where he spent the last two weeks with the Knights. During his last recall, Seitsonen posted one assist in six games. In 23 games with the Wranglers, Seitsonen has scored nine goals and added eight assists for 17 points. Seitsonen was the Calgary Flames fourth round draft pick (#118 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Seitsonen played three years of junior hockey with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. In 204 games with the Raiders, Seitsonen amassed 60 goals and 67 assists for 127 points. In 22 playoff games with Prince Albert, the six-foot four-inch forward had five goals and nine assists for 14 points. The Riihimaki, FIN native played seven games at the end of the 2005-06 season with Omaha, where he was held scoreless with only two penalty minutes.
Mike McKenna heads to Omaha for his third stint in the AHL, his first with the Knights. McKenna attended Omaha's training camp in each of the last two seasons. McKenna was recently named the starting goaltender for the ECHL's National Conference for the 2007 Rbk ECHL All-Star Game in January. McKenna recently had a brief stint with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, playing in one game and surrendering three goals without a decision. McKenna is among the ECHL leaders for most statistical categories among goaltenders. The 23-year old goalie ranks in the top five for goals against average (2.44) and save percentage (.923), as well as tied for second with two shutouts. McKenna won eight straight starts for Las Vegas from November 15th to December 29th. McKenna has been named the ECHL Rbk Goalie of the Week twice this season and finished runner-up for the ECHL Rbk Saver of the Month in November. This season, the St. Louis native is 10-2-5 with Las Vegas.
