BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL announced today that second-year goaltender Steve Silverthorn has been recalled to its AHL affiliate, Iowa Stars.

Silverthorn, who is tied for the ECHL lead with 15 wins, will join the team in Hamilton and remain with the Stars through at least the weekend. The Owen Sound, Ontario native, and graduate of Colgate University, also ranks in the top five in the ECHL in saves, minutes played and shootout wins. In 2005-06, Silverthorn went 22-14-3 with the Steelheads. The 25-year-old has yet to play in an AHL game in his career.

Also today, the Steelheads activated rookie center Greg Rallo from the 7-day injured reserve list (IR) and defenseman Kyle Peto from the 3-day IR. Rallo, who leads the team's rookies with 10 goals and 18 points in 27 games, has been out since December 29th. Peto, a Lethbridge, Alberta native, is tied for the team lead amongst defenseman with three goals. He originally joined the team on December 7th after beginning this season in the Finnish Elite League.

Steelheads' rookie goaltender John Daigneau is expected to start both home games this weekend against the Stockton Thunder. Daigneau holds a mark of 2-2-0-0 on the season. To compensate for the loss of Silverthorn, the Steelheads also announced that they have signed emergency back-up goaltender Doug Melvin.

The Steelheads are home tonight, Friday, January 5th to battle the Stockton Thunder. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. MST.
