Steelheads Blanked By Thunder 1-0

Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID - Twenty-nine saves by Stockton Thunder goaltender Devan Dubnyk stymied the Steelheads attack as the visitors won 1-0 in front of 4,064 fans at Qwest Arena on Friday night.
The Steelheads (17-13-1-1) have lost two straight games after winning five of their previous six. The victory, Dubnyk's first professional shutout, helped the Thunder (16-7-2-3) end their five-game skid. The loss also snaps the Steelheads' three-game, home winning streak.
After the Steelheads out-shot the Thunder 14-7 in a scoreless first period, the Thunder broke the tie late in the second period off an even-strength goal by rookie Tim Sestito. With the visitors in the offensive zone, Thunder forward Liam Reddox banged into Steelheads' defenseman Darrell Hay behind the Steelheads' net and the puck came free to winger Stephane Goulet. Goulet centered the puck and it caromed off the skate of Steelheads' defenseman Travis Wight and right to Sestito. His initial shot was stopped by Steelheads' goaltender John Daigneau (28 saves), but Sestito found the rebound and swept it past Daigneau at 18:18.
In the third period the Steelheads mustered just seven shots, finishing the game with 29. The Thunder ended with 33. Daigneau takes the tough loss to drop at 2-3-0-0, while Dubnyk jumps to 9-2-2-2. Both teams went scoreless on the power play, as the season series now stands at 2-2-1-1.
The Steelheads continue their two-game set with the Stockton Thunder on Saturday, January 6. Face-off is at 7:10 p.m. MST. Don't forget, Steelheads' single-game tickets and all-star game tickets can be purchased via www.idahosteelheads.com (using the all-new, print-at-home feature), by calling 331-TIXS or from the Qwest Arena box office. The 2007 RBK ECHL All-Star Game at Qwest Arena is a two-night event beginning on Tuesday, January 16. Tickets to both events start at just $25.
