North Charleston, SC - Matt Reid and Matt Stefanishion each scored twice as the South Carolina Stingrays downed the Augusta Lynx 7-2 Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

The Stingrays wasted no time jumping on the board, as Reid notched his 11th goal of the year just 17 seconds into the contest. Taking a pass at the side of the Lynx goal from Cail MacLean, Reid beat Nathan Marsters under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.

At 7:30 the Stingrays doubled the lead on a goalmouth scramble as Stefanishion pushed home a bouncing puck for a two goal advantage at the end of 20 minutes of play.

In the second, a pair of goals just 37 seconds apart from Reid and Donny Grover made it 4-0 and saw Dave McKee step in for Marsters, who stopped 19 of 23 shots faced through the game's first 24:23.

At 6:29 the Lynx finally got on the scoreboard when a puckhandling miscue behind the Stingrays goal by netminder Davis Parley allowed Ryan Lang to extend his point scoring streak to six straight games on his team-leading 16th goal of the year. A fumbled exchange between Parley and Nate Kiser led to the lose puck in front for Lang who quickly tucked it home.

South Carolina capped the period's scoring at 8:43 with a Peter Szabo point drive while on a five-on-three power play to forge a 5-1 lead, beating McKee blocker side after the Lynx netminder made a dazzling save to rob Evan Schwabe of a certain goal earlier in the shift.

Marsters returned to the Augusta goal to begin the third period, ceding markers to Cam McCaffrey at 2:41 and Stefanishion's second goal of the night at 18:41. Mike Erickson collected the only other goal of the game for the Lynx, assisted by Brian Passmore and Aaron Slattengren at 10:26 for the 7-2 final.

The Lynx are back in action at home Saturday night against the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:35 pm, with tickets on sale tomorrow morning at 10 am through the Lynx office by calling (706) 724-4ICE, via all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
