Hrdel called up to Springfield

Johnstown, PA (January 5, 2007) - The Johnstown Chiefs on Friday announced that forward Zbynek Hrdel has been recalled to Springfield of the American Hockey League.

The 6-4, 195-pound Hrdel has scored 16 points (5g, 11a) in 26 games with Johnstown this year, and currently has a four-game point-scoring streak, during which he has scored six points (3g, 3a).

Selected in the 9th round (286th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Hrdel spent the bulk of the 2005-06 season with Springfield, scoring five goals and 10 assists while appearing in 45 games for the Falcons. In 15 regular season games last season with the Chiefs, the native of Pisek, Czech Republic scored six goals and added five assists, while in four Kelly Cup Playoff games he scored a goal and added two assists.

The next Chiefs home game is Monday, January 15, at 1:00 p.m. against the Wheeling Nailers when the kids have off for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
