Marlies Continue Nine Game Road Trip with Two Games This Week

The Marlies traveled the mid-west last week and went 2-1-0-1 in four games. Toronto has currently collected points in three straight games. The Marlies travel to Abbotsford and will play the Heat on Friday and Sunday this upcoming weekend.

What You Need To Know About The Toronto Marlies...

- The Marlies are currently (2-1-0-2) on their nine game, 21-day road trip. It began on New Years Eve with a 2-1 shootout loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

- Marcel Mueller posted four points last week (one goal, three assists). Mueller had his six game point streak snapped on Saturday night in the team's 1-0 shootout loss.

- Toronto posts a record of 12-7-0-5 away from Ricoh Coliseum so far this season. Their 12 road victories rank fourth (tie) in the AHL. Last season the Marlies finished with an 11-22-3-4 road record.

- The Marlies penalty killing continues to be strong, ranking sixth in the AHL with an 85.9% success rate.

- Ben Scrivens earned his first career AHL shutout on Saturday night in the Marlies 1-0 shootout loss in Milwaukee. Over his past five games, Scrivens has posted a 2-0-2 record with a 1.52 goals against average and a 0.949 save percentage.

- Nazem Kadri notched three points (one goal, two assists) on Friday night and was the game's second star. Over his past seven games with the Marlies, the rookie forward has recorded nine points (three goals, six assists).

- Toronto holds a record of 6-2-0-4 against the West Division

- Christian Hanson has notched points in four straight games (three goals, one assist). In 31 games this season, the second year forward has posted 10 goals, which ranks second on the club.

- Goaltender James Reimer has played solid for the Maple Leafs in five starts this season, posting a 3-1-0 record with a 1.90 goals against average and 0.945 save percentage.

Last Week:

The Marlies went 2-1-0-1 in their four game week. On Wednesday at Allstate Arena, the Marlies dropped a 9-3 decision to the Chicago Wolves. Nigel Dawes scored four of the Wolves' nine goals in the game. It was the most goals the Marlies have allowed in their franchises' history.

On Friday night in Rockford, the Marlies snapped their four-game losing streak with a 5-1 win. Nazem Kadri and Marcel Mueller each posted a goal and two helpers in the win. The following night in Milwaukee, the Marlies lost a 1-0 contest in a shootout. Ben Scrivens made 24 saves in the loss.

Toronto closed out their week on Sunday with a 4-3 shootout win over the Chicago Wolves. Matt Lashoff, Jerry D'Amigo and Jay Rosehill provided the goal scoring for the Marlies.

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

The Marlies play the Abbotsford Heat twice this weekend. Toronto holds a record of 2-1-0-0 record against the Heat so far this season. It will mark the first time that the Marlies travel to Abbotsford. Sunday's game at 2 p.m. (EST) will air live on CBC. After losing the first meeting of the season, the Marlies have won the past two times they've faced their division rival. In their last matchup, James Reimer made 29 saves for the 2-0 shutout victory.

Abbotsford currently ranks fourth in the North Division with a record of 18-17-2-3 for 41 points. They've collected points in three straight games and are in the middle of a 10-game homestand. Rookie forward Greg Nemisz paces the Heat in scoring with 19 points (11 goals, eight assists). The two clubs will meet again in mid- February when the Marlies travel back out to Abbotsford for another two-game set

Reading Report:

The Reading Royals currently rank first in the Atlantic division with a record of 22-9-2. The Royals have won 20 of their past 25 games, and have picked up points in eight straight contests. Their 22 wins this season rank second in the entire ECHL. The Royals are back in action on Friday night when they host Toledo.
