Albany Devils News Release

WORCESTER, Mass. - Mike McKenna made 32 stops and Michael Swift netted a pair of goals as the Albany Devils defeated the Worcester Sharks, 2-0, Tuesday at the DCU Center. McKenna and the Devils have won two straight, improving the team record to 15-20-0-3. With the loss, the Sharks go to 18-14-2-5.

McKenna, who was coming off a 23-save performance in a 2-1 win against Binghamton, was called on 30 times in the second and third periods. He earned first star of the game honors by posting his seventh career shutout and his first since Feb. 19, 2010 against Manchester (5-0).

The Devils' netminder helped the club kill off all six Sharks' power plays, including one with less than a minute to play.

Arguable McKenna's most notable save came while shorthanded with 1:15 remaining in the second period. A pass was sent across the slot onto the stick of Steve Zalewsky. As the shot sailed towards the goal, McKenna slid from his right to left, making the save.

Swift netted the game winner at 10:47 of the first period after Chad Wiseman made a centering pass on a fast break. Swift's wrister beat Sharks' goaltender Alex Stalock.

The game appeared to be heading to a 1-0 finish, but with just six seconds remaining, Swift jumped off the bench, picked up a clearing attempt and slide in his team-leading 15th goal into the empty net. The goal was his third shorthanded tally of the year.

With an assist on the team's first goal, Wiseman earned his 13th point in 15 games this season. He is averaging a team-best 0.86 points-per-game.

Brad Mills registered the helper on Swift's second goal. It was Mills' first point since returning to the lineup since missing 21 games (Nov. 16-Jan. 5).

The Devils will try and make it three-in-a-row on Friday, Jan. 14 when Binghamton comes to the Times Union Center for a 7 p.m. contest. Tickets can be purchased at the TUC box office. Fans can also obtain tickets by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or online at ticketmaster.com.
