Omark Named to AHL Western Conference All Star Team

Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons forward Linus Omark was named to the American Hockey League Western Conference All Star Team, the Barons front office announced today.

Omark, a 5-10, 175-pounder from Overtornea, Sweden has skated in 28 games with the Barons this season and has scored 31 points (14-17-31). Omark owns Barons season highs for both goals in a game and assists in a game. He recorded five goals in the Barons' 7-6 shootout win over Toronto on November 7 and followed that with a four-assist performance January 2 against Rockford. Currently on recall with Edmonton, Omark has played in 11 games with Edmonton and has scored six points (1-5-6).

Omark joins fellow Barons forward Alex Giroux on the All Star Squad. Giroux was named the playing captain and starter for the Western Conference All Star Team December 10. His selection as captain was for his service and leadership within the AHL. Giroux currently leads the Barons in scoring with 42 points (17-25-42). That point total is good for third in the league.

The 2011 AHL All Star Classic, presented by Capital BlueCross is January 30 - 31 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The event will begin with the All Star Skills Competition January 30 at 3 p.m. The game January 31 will feature the Western Conference All Stars against the Eastern Conference All Stars.

The Barons begin a seven-game, six-city road trip with a trio of games this weekend. Thursday and Friday, the Barons take on the Peoria Rivermen in Peoria, Ill. Saturday, the Barons travel to San Antonio to take on the Rampage. Thursday and Friday's games faceoff at 7:05 p.m., while Saturday's contest starts at 7 p.m. All games this weekend can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.

-Barons- NOTES: The Barons recalled defenseman Mark Arcobello from the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL. Arcobello, a 5-9, 165-pounder from Milford, Conn. has played in 29 games with the Thunder and scored 16 points (6-10-16). He was named to the ECHL All Star Team December 30.
