Peoria Rivermen News Release
St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled forwards Philip McRae and Ryan Reaves from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. The Blues also assigned forward T.J. Hensick to Peoria.
McRae, 20, has dressed in 37 games for Peoria and ranks 11th among all AHL rookies with 22 points including 11 goals and 11 assists. Prior to joining the Rivermen, the 6'2, 200-pound forward spent two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), serving stints with both the London Knights and Plymouth Whalers amassing 111 points including 45 goals and 66 assists in 111 games.
A St. Louis native, McRae played his freshman season with CBC High School in St. Louis and his father, Basil, played in 112 games with the Blues from 1992 to 1996. Philip and Basil would become the fourth father-son combination to play for the Blues joining Bob and Brent Johnson, Peter and Yan Stastny and Mike and B.J. Crombeen. McRae was originally drafted by St. Louis in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Reaves, 23, has dressed in 33 games for Peoria collecting nine points on four goals and five assists to go along with 91 penalty minutes. In addition, the 6'1, 225-pound forward made his NHL debut this season and served 15 penalty minutes in the Blues' 5-1 win over Anaheim on Oct. 11. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native was originally drafted by St. Louis in the fifth round, 156th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Hensick, 25, has made five appearances for the Blues this season recording an assist and serving two penalty minutes. In 26 outings with Peoria, the 5'10, 190-pound forward leads the Rivermen with 31 points including nine goals and a club best 22 assists. The Lansing, Michigan native was originally drafted by Colorado in the third round, 88th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by St. Louis from Colorado in exchange for Julian Talbot on June 17, 2010.
