Gordon, Nycholat, Holtby Named AHL All-Stars

HERSHEY - The 2010 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that right wing Andrew Gordon, defenseman Lawrence Nycholat and goaltender Braden Holtby have all been named to participate in the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Capital Blue Cross.The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Gordon, who leads HERSHEY in goals and points, is eighth in the AHL with 36 points. His 18 goals are tied for fifth among AHL players. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gordon will be heading to the AHL All-Star Classic for the second consecutive season. He will also be in the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference.

Nycholat, who returned to HERSHEY this season after winning the 2006 Calder Cup with the BEARS, is tied for fourth in the AHL among defenseman with 27 points. He also ranks fourth in the circuit in assists, two off the league lead. The 2011 AHL All-Star Classic will be the fourth of his career, and the third time he will be a starter in the game.

Holtby, making his first AHL All-Star appearance, is fourth in the AHL in goals against average at 1.80, and is tied for second in the league in shutouts with four. His record heading into this weekend's action is 10-4-1, with a .935 saves percentage.

The BEARS travel to Adirondack Friday night to play the Phantoms at 7:30 p.m., the final game of a three-game road trip. HERSHEY will host the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday night at Giant Center at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Giant Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.
