Shirokov Named to AHL All-Star Classic Presented by Capital

The Manitoba Moose, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that Moose right-winger Sergei Shirokov has been named to the Western Conference All-Star Team for the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross, to be held January 30-31 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Shirokov, 24, has appeared in 37 games with the Moose this season where he has accumulated 30 points (15g & 15a) along with 24 penalty minutes. He leads his team in both points and goals and currently holds the AHL's longest point streak (10 games with nine goals, three assists). Shirokov also has goals in each of his past five games including two game winners and two power play goals.

Shirokov was named to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team in 2010 in his rookie season with the Manitoba Moose. Last year, he played in 76 games where he recorded 22 goals and 23 assists for 55 points, along with 32 penalty minutes. Shirokov was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round, 163rd overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2011 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Capital BlueCross will feature the 2011 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 30 (3:00 p.m. ET) and the 2011 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 31 (7:00 p.m. ET), and will be televised live nationally in the United States and Canada.
