Islanders Recall Rakhshani, Sound Tigers Release Leisenring

BRIDGEPORT, Conn (Jan. 11, 2011) ‚¬" The New York Islanders announced today that they have recalled forward Rhett Rakhshani from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. The Sound Tigers also announced in a separate transaction that they have released forward Brady Leisenring from his professional tryout contract.

Rakhshani, 22, earns his second recall to the Islanders this season. The first-year pro made his NHL debut Dec. 13 against the Nashville Predators, his only game played during his first recall. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native leads the Sound Tigers in points (32), goals (10) and assists (22), and his mark of 32 points leads all AHL rookies.

Leisenring made his Sound Tigers debut this past Saturday and appeared in both of Bridgeport's games this weekend. The Stowe, Vt. native returns to the Kalamazoo Wings, the Sound Tigers ECHL affiliate.
