Mallette Selected As Player Of The Week

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that forward Carl Mallette (MAH-leht) is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for March 7-13. The 23-year-old Mallette scored four goals and added three assists and was +4 in his first three games with the Storm since being acquired in a March 8 trade with Greenville.

In his first game with Toledo on March 11, Carl assisted on the first goal in the Storm's 3-2 win against Peoria. He netted four goals in a 6-1 win against Peoria on Saturday, giving him his first career hat trick while tying his career-best for points in a game. He closed out the week having two assists in a 4-3 win at Johnstown on Sunday.

Selected in the fourth round by Atlanta in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Mallette has 72 points (28-44) and is tied for first place in the ECHL scoring race with Alaska's Scott Gomez (11-61). He began the season with Greenville, while also representing the Grrrowl in the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game.

In his first professional season in 2003-04, Mallette scored 71 points (28-43) while splitting time between Florida and Roanoke of the ECHL. He finished that season playing for current Toledo Storm Assistant Coach Tony MacAulay.

The Storm return to the home ice this Friday and Saturday nights against the Trenton Titans. Friday, March 18th is Tropical Storm Night with the "Miss Tropical Storm" Bikini Contest. Toledo Hockey...A History of Champions!
