
Gladiators Sean Fields Named ECHL Goalie of the Week

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators goaltender Sean Fields has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 7th though 14th.
Fields went 2-0-0 during the week to help the Gladiators go 3-1-0 and move into 6th place in the American Conference playoff race. The Edmonton, Alberta native beat Columbia 2-1 on Tuesday and help the Gladiators to a 4-1 win over Pee Dee on Friday.
Fields is unbeaten in his past 7 starts with a 6-0-1 record for the Gladiators with a 1.78 goals against average and .933 saver percentage. Fields hasn't lost in regulation since March 15th and lowered his overall goals against average from 2.67 to 2.74 while raising his goals against average from .906 to .913.
Signed by the Gladiators on December 5th as an emergency backup, Fields made is debut with the Gladiators in a 4-2 win over Texas on the same day. Fields posted his first professional shutout in a 2-0 blanking of Pee Dee on December 28th.
In his first professional season, Fields played 123 games in four years at Boston University. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2002-03 and 2003-04 and set numerous records including wins (62), saves (3066) and minutes (7308). Fields is the only player in history to win the Eberly Trophy for outstanding goaltender and the MVP award in back-to-back Beanpot Tournaments (2003 and 2004).
The Central Division Champion Gwinnett Gladiators continue their second season on the road on Tuesday, March 15th against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
