Johnstown, Long Beach Help Increase Average Attendance

PRINCETON, N.J. – The second-largest crowds of the season in Johnstown and Long Beach helped the ECHL average 4,925 for 14 games on Saturday. Long Beach followed up with its third-largest crowd of the year on Sunday and Johnstown had its fifth-largest helping the league average over 4,000 for eight games. Friday saw Charlotte draw its fourth-largest crowd of the year with 7,038 while Mississippi had its third-largest crowd with 5,321, helping the league average 4,490 for 13 games.

The weekend increased the total attendance for the ECHL to 3,282,800 and the average attendance to 3,960 per game, up more than 3.6 percent from a year ago. Long Beach increased its attendance for the season by more than four percent to 3,076 which is up more than 17 percent from last season. Charlotte's attendance is up more than 11 percent to 5,020 per game.

Gwinnett drew over 10,000 for its two games and continues to lead the league in average attendance with 6,155 per game, up more than 22 percent from its inaugural season. Increasing its total attendance to a league-leading 188,097 with 6,728 on Saturday, Florida remains second in the league in average attendance with 6,067. San Diego is third in total attendance with 156,748 and average attendance with 5,598, an increase of more than 11 percent. Reading is fourth in average attendance with 5,559, up three percent, and Bakersfield is fifth at 5,262, up over 16 percent.

Victoria had its league-leading ninth sellout of the season with 2,605 for its final home game on Saturday. The Salmon Kings finish the season averaging 2,289 per game in their temporary home at 2,513-seat Bear Mountain Arena. Victoria is scheduled to move into the new 7,000-seat Save-On-Foods Centre in 2005-06.
