Charlotte Knights News Release

(MEMPHIS, TN) - A night after the Charlotte Knights scored 12 unanswered runs, the team dropped game four of the six-game series against the Memphis Redbirds by a score of 11-1 on Friday night from AutoZone Park in Memphis, TN. Despite the loss, the Knights have won nine of the last 15 games.

The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning thanks to an RBI double by right fielder Craig Dedelow. Charlotte's early lead did not last long, however. In fact, Charlotte's second inning run was the only run of the night for the team.

RHP Tobias Myers (1-12, 7.23) started for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed six runs on five hits over just two innings pitched. Myers allowed all six runs in the second inning and the Redbirds never gave up the lead from there. The Redbirds totaled 11 runs on 13 hits.

Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal and infielder/outfielder Leury García both began MLB rehab stints with the Knights on Friday. Grandal went 2-for-4 and García went 1-for-4. In all, the Knights tallied seven hits in the game four loss.

St. Louis Cardinals RHP Jack Flaherty (1-2, 4.35) earned the win for Memphis. Flaherty, who was sent to the Redbirds on an MLB rehab assignment earlier in the day, gave up just one run on four hits over 5.1 innings pitched.

With the loss on Friday, the Knights are now even in the series with the Redbirds, 2-2.

The Knights will continue the six-game road series against the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) on Saturday night from Memphis, TN. First pitch is set for 7:35 p.m. ET from AutoZone Park. The game can be heard live on www.CharlotteKnights.com.
