Louisville Bats News Release
TOLEDO, OH - Spencer Torkelson hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Louisville Bats 6-5 Friday night at Fifth Third Field.
It didn't take long for the Toledo offense to get going, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Josh Lester had an RBI single and Andre Lipcius added an RBI double in the frame.
The Bats got a run back in the top of the second inning on Juniel Querecuto's sixth home run of the season, but the Mud Hens answered almost immediately on Jamie Westbrook's solo home run in the next half inning.
Leonardo Rivas led off the top of the fourth inning with a double for Louisville and was bunted to third base by Mark Koloszvary. Next up was Isiah Gilliam, who grounded an RBI single through the left side of the infield, cutting the Toledo lead to 3-2.
In the top of the fifth inning, Querecuto drove in his second run of the night on a sacrifice fly, tying the game at 3-3. Later in the inning, TJ Hopkins gave the Bats the lead with an RBI single.
Koloszvary extended the Louisville lead to 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning, smashing his third home run of the season over the fence in left field.
Toledo got a run back in the bottom of the seventh on Daz Cameron's RBI groundout, shrinking the Bats' lead to one run. In the next inning, Westbrook drove in his second run of the night on a fielder's choice, tying the game at 5-5.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 10th inning, when Torkelson's single scored the placed runner Ryan Kriedler to give the Mud Hens a 6-5 win.
The Bats and Mud Hens will continue their series Saturday night at Fifth Third Field. Randy Wynne (5-10, 5.05 ERA) will start for Louisville, opposing Bryan Garcia (1-3, 3.83 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
