Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies CEO Kevin Bruder and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie, in conjunction with the ECHL have released the team's schedule for the upcoming season, which begins in October.
The Grizzlies will open their second ECHL campaign October 20, 21 and 22 at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix with a three-game series versus the RoadRunners.
Utah returns home the following weekend with another rival, welcoming in the Las Vegas Wranglers for games October 27, 28.
The Grizzlies will not be seeing a lot of E-Center ice early in the season, playing 10 of their first 15 games on the *ECHL Highway.* However, Jason Christie's crew will attempt to make their second straight run into the Kelly Cup Playoffs with 25 of their final 36 games in the 72-game regular season at home during the second-half of the season.
In total, 25 of the Grizzlies 36 home games will be played on Friday and Saturday nights. That is the highest ratio of weekend games in Grizzlies history. 25 of Utah's 36 home games will be played during the 2007 calendar year. *We feel this is the most fan friendly schedule in Grizzlies history,* said Bruder. *The amount of weekend home dates, especially late in the season is especially pleasing,* added Christie. *We will have some exciting announcements coming soon regarding this year's club.*
Highlighting Utah's 2006 home schedule will be a post-Thanksgiving two-game series with the Victoria Salmon Kings on Friday and Saturday November 24, 25.
In 2006-2007, Long Beach, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Alaska, Idaho, Stockton, Fresno, Victoria and Bakersfield will be making E-Center trips for the second straight year. The Texas Wildcatters will be the only Utah opponent coming to the E-Center for the first time.
Season ticket packages, mini-plans, group parties and luxury suites for the upcoming season are on sale now by calling (801) 988-PUCK.
