Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today their schedule for the 2006-2007 regular season, as released by the ECHL. The Ice Dogs' fourth season in the league will keep them in the Pacific Division and National Conference for the second consecutive year alongside Bakersfield, Fresno, and Stockton.
The Ice Dogs will have a total of 5 Wednesdays, 11 Friday's, 11 Saturday's and 9 Sunday's to make up their 36 game home schedule. Highlights include opening night October 20th when the Idaho Steelheads come to town and October 22nd when the Ice Dogs will face the Bakersfield Condors for the first time since being eliminated in Game 7 of the Division semi-finals last April.
The defending Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces will make their first visit of the season to Long Beach on January 19th and the Ice Dogs will have a home game on New Years Eve for the second consecutive year, this time versus the Fresno Falcons. The final game of the regular season will also be played at home, April 7th versus Bakersfield.
The longest home streak of the season will be from February 23 - March 3 when the Ice Dogs play six games in nine nights. The longest road trip will span from February 1 - February 18, a total of nine games that will have Long Beach travel to Texas to take on the Wildcatters who return to action after being shutdown last season due to hurricane Rita. The Cincinnati Cyclones are also returning to the ECHL, though they are not on the Ice Dogs' regular season schedule.
The ECHL takes its annual midseason break in January for the Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 17 and Rbk Hockey Skills Competition on Jan. 16 hosted by the Steelheads at Qwest Arena.
Season ticket and mini-plans for the 2006-2007 season are now on sale starting at just $300 including the first two playoff games. For more information, contact the Ice Dogs office at (562) ICE-DOGS or visit www.icedogs.com.
