Texas Wildcatters News Release

Beaumont, TX (July 17, 2006) - The Texas Wildcatters and the ECHL announced their 72 game 2006-07 schedule today. Returning for their third season in Southeast Texas at Ford Arena, the Wildcatters will play 27 of their 36 home games on Friday and Saturday.

The Wildcatters open up their home schedule on Saturday, October 28 when they host the rival Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05p.m. Before returning home, the Wildcatters open up the ECHL schedule when they visit the Florida Everblades on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday Oct. 21. The home portion of the season will come to a close on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 when the Wildcatters host Florida.

Weekends will begin on Thursday in Southeast Texas when Wildcatters hockey gets underway as all 36 home games will take place from Thursday through Sunday. Face-off for the 5 Thursday games as well as the 14 Saturday games will be at 7:05pm. For the 13 Friday games, the puck will drop at 7:30pm while the 4 Sunday afternoon contests start at 2:05pm.

"We are excited to have so many games played on prime weekend dates. Nearly all of our games are on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This makes it very convenient for our great fans of Southeast Texas to come see Wildcatters hockey at Ford Arena," said Rick Adams, owner of the Texas Wildcatters.

The Wildcatters will face-off against rivals, Pensacola 11 times (5 home, 6 away) and Florida 10 times (5 home, 5 away). The team will also play South division opponents Gwinnett 8 times, Columbia, Augusta and South Carolina 7 times and Charlotte 6 times. The Wildcatters will host the American Conference Champion Gwinnett Gladiators for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday, November 10 and 11.

The Wildcatters will also take on several out of conference opponents at home and on the road. Texas will host coach Malcolm Cameron's former team, the Long Beach Ice Dogs for 3 games on February 1, 2 and 3. Also from the Pacific Division, the Stockton Thunder will visit for the first time for 3 games on February 23, 24 and 25. The final National Conference opponent appearing at Ford Arena will be the Phoenix Roadrunners from the West division as they enter Southeast Texas for their first-ever visit December 14, 15 and 16. The Wildcatters will also travel to Phoenix, Utah and Las Vegas for one of their 2 longest 7 game road trips in February and March. The other occurs in November and December with stops in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

While the Wildcatters will be on the road for 13 of their first 18 games, they will stay at home throughout most of the holiday season as 12 out of 14 games will take place at Ford Arena from December 7 - January 7. Texas will host Charlotte, Phoenix, Florida and Columbia during these 2 home stands.

The division and conference alignments and the format for the 2007 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be announced following the Preseason Board of Governors Meeting in September.

The ECHL welcomes the Cincinnati Cyclones and the Texas Wildcatters back to the ice in 2006-07 and will play 900 games, beginning Oct. 20 and ending Apr. 7, with 25 teams in 16 states and British Columbia.
