Pensacola Ice Pilots and ECHL release 2006-2007 Schedule

Exciting rivalries with division teams, a trip north and the return of two teams - these are some of the highlights of the 2006-2007 schedule that was released today (Monday) by the Pensacola Ice Pilots, a proud member of the ECHL. The schedule includes 72 games with 36 home and 36 away.
The Ice Pilots face-off their schedule on Friday Oct. 20 when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to play the Cyclones which mark their return to the ECHL. It's the start of a three-game road trip north that also includes stops in Johnstown and Reading, PA.
"We are pleased with this year's schedule," said Ice Pilots President Greg Schuh. "We have a good number of weekend home dates which carry the normal special promotions and giveaways. With the strong number of Tuesday nights, we will be able to implement a season-long Tuesday game-night promotion and let our Sunday games be our family dates."
The Ice Pilots 2006-2007 home opener is set for Friday, October 27 when they host their South Division rivals the Texas Wildcatters at The Hanger, the Pensacola Civic Center. The Beaumont, Texas based team returns to the ECHL after a one-year absence due to Hurricane Rita. Pensacola faces Texas a total of 11 times, including six at The Hanger.
The first home game kicks-off an exciting stretch for the Ice Pilots where they will be at the PCC for six of seven games. That home stretch is the longest of the season for the Ice Pilots. The opponents for Pensacola include the Columbia Inferno, Charlotte Checkers, South Carolina Stingrays and a doubleheader against the Augusta Lynx. The Ice Pilots face the Lynx 10 times, and the Inferno, Checkers and Stingrays a total of nine times each.
There will be two extended road trips for the Ice Pilots where they will be on the road each for four consecutive games.
"I look forward to a challenging, enjoyable and rewarding season," said Ice Pilots Head Coach George Dupont. "The off-season has been exciting and the finalization of the schedule means we are one step closer to getting the season on the go and seeing our team in action. I am looking forward to renewing some of the rivalries."
Twenty-three of the Ice Pilots 36 home games will be played on Friday (10) and Saturday (13) nights, while the remaining 13 will be contested on Tuesdays (9) and Sundays (4).
The Ice Pilots will play at home on Thanksgiving Holiday weekend against the Augusta Lynx and will be on the road for New Years Eve in Charleston, South Carolina against the Stingrays.
Ice Pilots single game seats will go on sale in early October. Start times of all home games will also be released in the near future.
