Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The ECHL released the team schedules for the 2006-07 season, and the Victoria Salmon Kings are poised for a thrilling start to their third season.

New Head Coach Tony MacAulay and the S-Kings will head north to debut against the defending Kelly Cup champions, the Alaska Aces, on October 20, 2006. After a two-game series against the division rivals, the Salmon Kings will host the Idaho Steelheads in a Wednesday-Friday-Saturday series beginning October 25, to begin the campaign at home.

The Salmon Kings will have a balanced home-road split for each half of the season. From October to early January, they will play 17 homes games and 19 road games, and from early January to early April, they will host 19 home and games and travel for 17 road games.

November kicks off with a trip to Las Vegas for a three-game series, and then two home series in row. The Falcons swoop in from Fresno for a three-game series starting November 9th and are followed by the Stockton Thunder in a Thursday-Friday two game showdown at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

After a visit to Utah to face the Grizzlies in late November, Victoria returns home to roll in December against the Aces for a three-game series, and then faceoff against the Long Beach Ice Dogs in another three-game series starting December 6th.

They sail through Phoenix, Long Beach, Fresno, Las Vegas, and Bakersfield for an 11-day road trip before finishing off 2006, and starting 2007, with a three-game home series against Alaska. The first half of January delivers a 7-game road trip, before the All-Star break. The ECHL takes its annual midseason break for the Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game on January 17 and Rbk Hockey Skills Competition on January 16 hosted by the Steelheads at Qwest Arena.

The Bakersfield Condors arrive in Victoria for a three-game series starting January 19, and then the Salmon Kings follow them back to California to round out the month. February holds a home-away series against Idaho, followed by a two-series home stretch versus Stockton and Las Vegas, which kicks off on Valentine's Day.

March is marked with California tour number two-this time in Fresno and Stockton-and is concluded with a home-away series versus Utah, separated by a home stint against Long Beach.

The Salmon Kings will battle the Phoenix Roadrunners in the final series of the regular season, starting March 4th at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

All games at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Monday through Saturday will begin at 7:05 p.m., with the exception of the Monday January 1st, 2007 matchup versus the Aces, which will begin at 1:05 p.m. All Sunday games will start at 1:05 p.m.
