Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades, proud affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes, in conjunction with the ECHL have announced their 2006-07 schedule. As in the past, the Everblades will play a 72-game schedule with 36 home and road dates. The '06-'07 campaign begins on Friday, October 20, 2006 and concludes on Saturday, April 7, 2006.
The Everblades will open their ninth season on home ice with a pair of games against the Texas Wildcatters on Friday & Saturday, October 20 & 21 and will conclude the '06-'07 season also at Germain Arena with two games versus the Augusta Lynx on April 6 & 7.
Highlighting the schedule will be the team's first ever regular season trip to the north. Florida's first road trip of the year is a four-game swing through the state of Ohio where the 'Blades will play three teams for the first time in club history. The northern trip opens on November 1 with a match-up against the Cincinnati Cyclones then moves to Toledo when the Everblades visit the Toledo Sports Arena to face off against the Storm on November 3. The following night, the Everblades head to Dayton to take on the Bombers before concluding the trip back in Cincinnati on November 6.
The Everblades enjoy two five-game home stands as their longest stints at Germain Arena during the year. The first is November 10 - 18, when the Everblades host the Columbia Inferno for three games and the Pensacola Ice Pilots for a pair of contests. The second stand stretches from January 5 - 13 when the Everblades host the Charlotte Checkers for three games, then welcome in the South Carolina Stingrays for two games.
Florida endures a 10-day trip as the team's longest road swing. The trip spans from December 8 through December 17 with games at Pensacola, Gwinnett, Augusta, South Carolina and Columbia.
Other than the four games in Ohio, the Everblades play the remaining 68 games of their schedule against rival opponents. The most games head-to-head will come against rival Pensacola with the teams facing off 11 times. The 'Blades will see Texas, Gwinnett and South Carolina a total of 10 times each, and will face Charlotte, Columbia and Augusta a total of nine times each. A total of 19 games will come against the two teams the Everblades faced in the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs (Greenville & Gwinnett).
The overall breakdown of opponents & games for the Everblades is as follows:
Augusta Lynx 9 - (4 home, 5 away)
Charlotte Checkers 9 - (5 home, 4 away)
