Dallas Stars Recall Defenseman Maxime Fortunus

Cedar Park, TX - The Dallas Stars announced Friday that the club has placed defenseman Trevor Daley on injured reserve, retroactive to Dec. 16. He suffered a shoulder injury in Wednesday's game at Carolina. The Stars have also recalled defenseman Maxime Fortunus from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Fortunus, 26, has collected five goals and four assists in 30 games for the Texas Stars in 2009-10. The La Prairie, Quebec native has played in 326 career AHL games posting 25 goals and 59 assists in seven AHL seasons. The 6-1, 198-pound defenseman recorded three goals and seven assists in 22 games for Manitoba last year in the Calder Cup playoffs. Fortunus was signed as a free agent by Dallas on July 3, 2008.

Fortunus could make his NHL debut on Saturday, when Dallas hosts Detroit at the American Airlines Arena at 2:00 pm.

Texas will play a road game in Houston on Friday, Dec. 18 at 7:35 PM. Texas will return home to host Grand Rapids on Saturday, Dec.19 at 7:00 PM. On the 19th, the first 3,000 fans receive a Texas Stars Christmas Ornament. The team will hold its first Teddy Bear Toss, where fans may bring stuffed animals to throw on the ice to benefit the Blue Santa program. The Stars will travel to San Antonio on Sunday, Dec.27 to play the Rampage at 3:00 PM. Texas returns to Cedar Park to take on Syracuse on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7:30 PM.
