Enroth Leads Pirates to Shutout Win

Portland, Maine - Jhonas Enroth made 24 saves to lead the Portland Pirates to a 2-0 win over the Springfield Falcons in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 2,882 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Felix Schutz and Mark Mancari netted the goals for Portland in support of Enroth's second shutout of the season. The Pirates moved to 15-12-3-2 on the season with the win.
Springfield extended their winless streak to 11 games (0-9-1-1) in the loss and are now 10-15-4-2 on the season.
The Pirates got off to a quick start in the game as Schutz scored just 15 seconds into the game, which turned out to be the only goal of the opening period. The goal was the fastest to start a game by the Pirates this season and only one second off the franchise record established by Mark Murphy when he scored 14 seconds into a game against Quebec on November 24, 2000. Mancari gave the Pirates a 2-0 advantage after two when he finished off an add-man rush midway through the period.
The Pirates out shot the Falcons 31-24 in the game.
The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the game were 1. Enroth; 2. Schutz and 3. Springfield goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur.
Tomorrow (Saturday) the Pirates close out weekend action when the Bridgeport Sound Tigers visit the Cumberland County Civic Center at 7 p.m. It's a Labatt Blue Light Hockey Night in Portland and someone could win Salty Pete's Treasure Chest filled with more than $500 in prizes. It's also the Pirates second Student Achiever Night of the season as the Pirates and Aquafina reward participating schools and students with free tickets to the game.
