
Sharks Bite Monarchs in 3-1 Win

WORCESTER, MA - Ryan Vesce extended his consecutive point streak to four games as he scored the game winner midway through the second period to defeat the first place Monarchs Friday night at the DCU Center.
John McCarthy and Steven Zalewski also scored goals and Alex Stalock played another great game in net for Worcester with 24 saves.
Manchester started the scoring when an in-zone breakdown which led to a Bud Holloway breakaway on Sharks' goaltender Alex Stalock. Holloway buried the chance and gave the Monarchs a 1-0 lead at 6:41. John McCarthy evened the score at 12:16 when he pushed down the left wing past the Monarchs defense and beat goalie Jonathan Bernier. Final shots for the fist period were 17-5 in favor of Worcester.
Ryan Vesce extended his point streak when he scored the lone goal of the second period at 4:52 on a rebound in front, on the power play, assisted by Logan Couture and Benn Ferriero. Alex Stalock had a strong period in between the pipes for the Sharks. Final shots for the period were 13-11 in favor of the Monarchs.
The Sharks extended their lead to 3-1 at 12:05 of the third period when Steven Zalewski scored from behind the net off a pass from Ryan Vesce.
With the win the Sharks move to 16-11-0-2 (34 points) on the season.
