Chicago Wolves News Release

ROCKFORD, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves held a 2-1 second period lead, but saw it slip away as the Rockford IceHogs skated off with a 3-2 win at the Rockford MetroCentre Friday night.

Rockford (16-14-2-1) got on board first when left wing Ryan Flinn took a slap shot from the left faceoff circle, which Chicago netminder Drew MacIntyre was able to block, but center Matt Keith picked up the rebound and shot the puck into the open net for the 1-0 lead at 7:16 of the first period.

Chicago (13-14-0-2) tied it up with a power-play tally at 12:25. Streaking across the blueline, center Kevin Doell dished the puck off to Riley Holzapfel, who took a shot from the faceoff dot that corralled off a Rockford defenseman and into the net.

Defensman Arturs Kulda gave Chicago a 2-1 lead at 5:49 of the second period. Deep in the corner, left wing Brett Sterling passed the puck out to Kulda, who wristed a shot past Rockford goaltender Joe Fallon.

Joe Fallon (8-7-0) thwarted 36 of 38 shots for the win.

Rockford converted on a power-play goal of their own when right wing Jack Skille tied the score at two with 3:15 to go in the second. Center Bracken Kearns redirected a wide shot from left wing Kyle Greentree that hit off the post and bounced out to a waiting Skille, who one-timed it past MacIntyre.

Drew MacIntyre (8-10-0) recorded 35 saves in the outing.

The IceHogs took the lead for good with 39 seconds remaining in the middle frame. Defenseman Richard Petiot sent a centering pass to Kearns, who managed to sneak the puck past MacIntyre.

The Wolves return home tomorrow as they take on the Milwaukee Admirals at the Allstate Arena at 7 p.m.
