Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks and Rochester Americans will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the team's Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction on Tuesday, March 9th at 6:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Rochester and the Knighthawks/Amerks Charitable Foundation, Inc.

The Celebrity Waiter Dinner and Auction has raised over $700,000 in the past 19 years and has included Amerks players such as Martin Biron, Ryan Miller, Jody Gage, Scott Metcalfe and many more working as waiters to help fund on-going, groundbreaking medical research aimed at curing and controlling cystic fibrosis. This year marks the second straight season that the dinner will be held at the downtown arena and include the involvement of the Knighthawks players. Kyle Schuhart will again serve as the CF Ambassador of Hope.

"The Rochester Americans and Knighthawks are very proud to be continuing the CF Dinner and celebrate its 20th anniversary," said team president Lewis Staats. "The money raised through this event will continue to support research to find a cure for the disease and we are glad to be able to contribute to these efforts through our fundraising celebrity dinner being held once again next March at the BCA."

The 2010 dinner is also the second year that the new ownership group, led by Curt Styres, has supported the joint fundraiser. Last year, the dinner collected nearly $45,000 for the CF Foundation. This year is poised to be even bigger and better.

"The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is excited about celebrating the 20th Anniversary the Celebrity Waiters' Dinner. We are grateful to Curt Styres, Lewis Staats and the entire Amerks and Knighthawks organization for their generosity and continued support," said Susanne Perrone, the CF Foundation's Executive Director.

Fans can begin purchasing tickets at the Amerks game tonight against the Hershey Bears at 7:05 p.m. at the Cystic Fibrosis table in the upper atrium lobby. General admission tickets are just $65. Starting on Friday, January 8th, fans will also have a chance to bid on a bear made by an Amerks player through a silent auction. The promotion will run for seven straight Friday home games and will end on Friday, February 26th. The bears were made by the players at the Build-A-Bear Workshop ® store location at 443 Eastview Mall sponsored by J. T. Genier Security Services. The remaining 20 bears will be available the night of the dinner.

The fun-filled event features players trading in their jerseys for tuxedoes and serving guests their food and drinks for tips, with all proceeds benefiting the CF Foundation and the Knighthawks/Amerks Charitable Foundation, Inc. The tipping does not stop after dinner, as players perform antics and tricks with their guests and fellow players for more money. Patrons can bid on great sports memorabilia items from the National Hockey League, American Hockey League, National Lacrosse League and the National Football League. The silent auction also includes stuffed animals made by the Amerks and Knighthawks players at the Eastview Mall Build-A-Bear Workshop®.
