Kings Assign Four Players To Manchester

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned the following four players to the Monarchs -- forwards Corey Elkins, Oscar Moller and Scott Parse, and defenseman Alec Martinez -- Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. In addition, the Kings have activated forward Ryan Smyth from the injured reserve list.

Smyth, 33, has played in 22 games with the Kings, recording 23 points (9-14=23) and 10 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 189-pound native of Banff, Alberta, suffered an upper body injury during the Kings' 4-3 SO win over the Florida Panthers on November 16 and has missed the last 15 games. He was acquired by the Kings from Colorado in exchange for Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing and a fifth round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft on July 3, 2009.

Elkins, 24, made his NHL debut this week and has played in two games with the Kings this season, recording one goal and zero penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, has also played in 30 games with Manchester this season and has a team co-leading 19 points (8-11=19). He was recalled by the Kings on December 14 as an emergency re-call.

Moller, 20, has played in nine games with the Kings, recording two points (1-1=2) and zero penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound native of Stockholm, Sweden, has also played in 25 games with Manchester this season and has a team co-leading eight goals while recording 18 points, second most on the most. He was most recently recalled by the Kings on December 6.

Parse, 25, has played in 27 games with the Kings this season, his first in the NHL, and he has 11 points (4-7=11) and 12 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-11, 197-pound native of Portage, Michigan, has also played in seven games with Manchester this season, and at the time of his recall on October 23, Parse had recorded a team-high 11 points and nine assists (2-9=11) and six penalty minutes. His 11 points ranked second in the AHL while his nine assists were tied for first in the league.

Martinez, 22, has played in two games with the Kings this season, his first in the NHL. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has also played in 13 games with Manchester this season, recording six points (3-3=6), six penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating. He was most recently recalled by the Kings on December 16.

These four players will join The Monarchs on Saturday, December 19 for a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Lowell Devils at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
