Countdown To Face-Off

It's a battle of second place teams tonight, as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Charlotte Checkers. This evening is also the first of two straight against each other and the first of three games in a span of ten days. Kalamazoo defeated Charlotte 5-4 in their previous encounter back on November 8th in Charlotte.

Returning home red hot, the K-Wings enter Wings Stadium on a three-game winning streak. With 42 points, Kalamazoo trails the Cincinnati Cyclones by one point for the first place honors in the North Division.

Using a three-game winning streak of their own, Charlotte has climbed into second place in the South Division. The Checkers trail the South Carolina Stingrays by 13 points for first place and hold a one point advantage over the Florida Everblades for second.

Daavettila and Curadeau Return

Forwards Trent Daavettila and Mathieu Curadeau will return to the K-Wings lineup. Daavettila was on loan to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, while Curadeau was on the three-day IR.

Nearing a Dozen

Kalamazoo's Rick Cleaver enters the night on a K-Wings' season-high 11-game point streak. Cleaver, who has earned 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists) during his current run, recorded his 100th pro point with the game-winner Wednesday night against Johnstown.

Mason Scores in Four

Defenseman Jeff Mason has earned point in four straight games for the K-Wings. Mason also enters the game on a three-game goal streak, which is one game shy of the K-Wings' season-high held by Trent Daavettila (10/25/09-11/04/09).

Streaking Along

Celebrating the New Year on a high note, the K-Wings return to Wings Stadium looking to extend a three-game winning streak. Kalamazoo is 3-0-0-0 since the start of 2010.
