Florida Everblades News Release
ELMIRA, NY-- The second meeting in team history between the Florida Everblades and the Elmira Jackals saw the Everblades give up an early lead and fall 3-1 to the Jackals. A.J. Thelen scored the lone goal for the Everblades on a break in the first. Two Jackals goals happened in the second and one in the third witnessed goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu go 30/33 on the night.
Florida took the first penalty of the night when A.J. Thelen was called for hooking. As he broke out of the penalty box he took a sharp pass from Ross Carlson and beat Andy Chiodo to put the âBlades up 1-0 in the first.
The Everblades took a one goal lead into the second period. The Elmira Jackals switched goalies, replacing Andy Chiodo with Julien Ellis. Former Everblade Yannick Tifu scored the equalizer at 1:09 to make it 1-1. The Jackals went up 2-1 when Mike Sgroi took a shot. Chris Beckford-Tseu used a right-pad save, but the puck bounced off A.J. Thelen and into the net.
The Everblades defense held Elmira off the board in the third, but penalties hampered the Everblades in there come back attempt. The Jackals gained a 5 on 3 power play opportunity when team captain Kevin Baker was called for fighting and Scott Hotham sat the penalty for too many men on the ice. The game ended 3-1 in favor of the Elmira Jackals.
