Four Players Share AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performers For December

PRINCETON, N.J. - The AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performers of the Month for December are forwards Ben Gordon of the Reading Royals, Trent Campbell of the South Carolina Stingrays and Chris Capraro of the Wheeling Nailers and defenseman Ryan Constant of the Stockton Thunder, who all finished the month with a league-leading plus-minus rating of +9.

Gordon was even or better in eight of 10 games in December and was +5 in a 7-3 win at Johnstown on Dec. 16 in which he registered his first career hat trick and tied a Royals team record with five points (3g-2a). Before being loaned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League on Dec. 27, Gordon was even or better in six consecutive games.

The 24 year old has a five-game point streak (5g-8a) and a five-game assist streak (8a) and leads Reading with 40 points and 16 goals while he is tied for the lead with 24 assists and is second with a plus-minus rating of +9. Gordon has four points (2g-2a) and four penalty minutes in four games with Toronto and also played in two games for Providence in the AHL earlier this season.

The International Falls, Minn. native split the 2008-09 season between Reading and Cincinnati and had 57 points (21g-36a) and 48 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games. He played four seasons at the University of Minnesota and had 98 points (39g-59a) and 145 penalty minutes in 148 games from 2004-08.

Campbell was even or better in 11 of 13 games, including +3 in a 4-0 shutout of Charlotte on Dec. 13. Campbell scored a point in all but one game during the month and had four multiple-point games including three points (1g-2a) in a 7-2 win over Trenton on Dec. 12.

The 27 year old led the team in December with 13 assists and was second with 17 points as South Carolina went 11-2-0, including a nine-game win streak. He leads the Stingrays with 20 assists and is tied for fourth with 27 points.

Campbell joined the Stingrays as a rookie in 2007-08 and has 114 points (40g-74a) and 84 penalty minutes in 122 regular season games and 38 points (12g-26a) in 43 Kelly Cup Playoff games. He has also played in the AHL where he has 16 points (6g-10a) and 10 penalty minutes in 36 games with Worcester and Portland.

The Beauval, Saskatchewan native played four seasons at Lake Superior State University and had 90 points (36g-54a) and 102 penalty minutes in 153 games from 2003-07.

Capraro had a plus-minus rating of even or better in 12 of 15 games for the Nailers in December. He was +3 in a 5-3 win over Kalamazoo on Dec. 26 and scored a season-high three points (1g-2a) against Toledo in a 7-3 win on Dec. 9.

The 26 year old is second on the team with 17 assists and tied for fifth with 22 points. He led the team in December with 12 assists and tied for first with 15 points as Wheeling went 10-5-0.

Capraro joined the Nailers in November and has 22 points (5g-17a) and eight penalty minutes in 25 games. He split his time between Trenton and Charlotte from 2006-09 and had 82 points (34g-48a) and 109 penalty minutes in 104 regular season games and one goal and three assists in 10 Kelly Cup Playoff games.

In four seasons at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, the Medford, Mass. native had 95 points (28g-67a) and 70 penalty minutes in 127 games from 2002-07.

Stockton's Constant was even or better in eight games and had an assist in five games, tying him for the team lead for the month with five assists. He was +3 or better in two games and had an assist in a 5-4 win over Alaska on Dec. 12 and earned his 10th point of the season with an assist in the Thunders' 5-1 win over Idaho on Dec. 31.

The 24 year old is tied for first on the team with a plus-minus rating of +6 and is second among Stockton defensemen with 11 points (2g-9a). He has played four seasons in the ECHL beginning as a rookie in 2006-07 and has 64 points (12g-52a) and 274 penalty minutes in 194 regular season games and three assists and 21 penalty minutes in 22 Kelly Cup Playoff games with Stockton and Charlotte.

A member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation in Manitoba, he has also played in the AHL where he has three points (1g-2a) and 17 penalty minutes in 26 games with Hartford and Springfield.
