Cyclones Forward Dustin Sproat Loaned To Milwaukee

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced this afternoon they have loaned forward Dustin Sproat to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL). Sproat appeared in 33 games for the Cyclones in 2009-10, racking up eleven goals and 17 assists for 28 points.

Sproat, 29, is in his second professional season. He joined the Cyclones in January 2009 after signing with the club as a free agent. With Fresno last season, the six-foot, 195 pound native of Red Deer, Alberta, played in 16 games and had a pair of goals and four assists for six points. With the Cyclones, he played in 39 games and had 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points.

Dustin was a three-time letterwinner at Princeton, playing in 92 games and collecting 28 goals and 29 assists for 57 points with 62 penalty minutes. The 2004-05 season was his finest, netting 18 goals and collecting 17 assists for 35 points in 31 games.

Sproat also won a pair of prestigious awards at Princeton. As a freshman in 2002-03, he was the winner of the university's Hobey Baker Trophy, as the top freshman player there. In 2005-06, Dustin was named the winner of the Blackwell Trophy for his contributions on the ice, sportsmanship and influence on the team. A two-time ECAC All-Academic choice, he began his professional career in 2005-06 with Reading (ECHL) and saw action in 16 games, netting a goal and an assist for two points.

Dustin Sproat becomes the tenth different Cyclones player to earn an AHL promotion this season, after 17 players earned the nod to the AHL last year. In the three-plus seasons that Chuck Weber has been the coach of the Cyclones, 58 players have earned promotions to the AHL.

The Cyclones are at Wheeling tonight (7:30pm on 1530 Homer - The Sports Animal) and at Reading onSaturday (7pm on www.cycloneshockey.com), before returning home for three games next week. Tuesday (Jan. 12), the club hosts Wheeling, Wednesday (Jan. 13), Kalamazoo comes in and next Saturday (Jan. 16), Toledo arrives for Military Appreciation Night, where active members of the armed forces with valid ID are admitted for $7.

The next radio game on 1530 Homer - The Sports Animal is tonight at 7:30pm when the squad tries to win a club record eighth consecutive road game against Wheeling.
