San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Matt Climie made 24 saves to post his third shutout of the season as the San Antonio Rampage blanked the Houston Aeros 4-0 on Saturday night at the AT&T Center in front of a sold out crowd of 6,930. The Rampage claim their 25th win of the season and remain in second place of the Western Conference standings with 51 points.
Andrew Ebbett registered two points with one goal and one assist to extend his point streak to six games while Matt Watkins scored a goal to push his point streak to five consecutive contests.
Maxim Goncharov recorded his first professional multiple point night with two assists and Mikkel Boedker posted his 10th multiple point game with one goal and one assist.
The Rampage jumped onto the boards 6:49 after the initial faceoff when Goncharov sent a centering feed to Ebbett who redirected the puck low glove side of Aeros goaltender Matt Hackett for a 1-0 lead. Boedker added the second helper.
San Antonio claimed a 2-0 advantage in the opening 55 seconds of the second period when Bracken Kearns and Chris Summers assisted on a bullet by Watkins from below the left faceoff dot that found a gap between the left post and Hackett's stick.
The Rampage extended their lead to 3-0 as leading scorer Brett MacLean scored a power-play goal at the 5:03 mark of the middle stanza. Ebbett centered a pass to MacLean atop the crease where he flipped the puck over the blocker of Hackett and into the back of the net. Petr Prucha provided the second assist.
San Antonio took a 4-0 lead as Goncharov sent a cross-ice pass to Boedker above the right faceoff circle and fired a shot that hit the right post and bounced over the goal line 9:13 into the second period.
Houston head coach Mike Yeo substituted Hackett for former Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman after Hackett allowed four goals in 29 minutes. Tordjman stopped all 12 shots he faced and the Rampage sealed their 4-0 win after a scoreless third period.
The Rampage conclude a three-in-three series Sunday afternoon when they travel to Houston to drop the puck against the Aeros at 4:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center.
