Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... Former Amerk goaltender Mike Brodeur stopped 35 of 36 shots as the Rochester Americans fell to the Binghamton Senators tonight at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. With the loss, Rochester has now dropped its third in its last four games to fall back into the basement of the American Hockey League's North Division with a 17-18-2-2 record.
Binghamton jumped out to an early 1-0 just 26 seconds into the contest as David Dziurzynski beat Amerks goaltender Jacob Markstrom with his first goal of the season. Eric Kondra and Jim O'Brien each earned their first of two points of the night with assists on the play. Markstrom would finish the evening with 34 saves.
Veteran forward Chris Taylor knotted the game at 1-1 at 13:40 on the power-play with his fifth of the season to put Rochester on the board. Defensemen Mike Kostka and Clay Wilson tallied the helpers on the Amerks' lone goal of the game.
Condra put the B-Sens back on top 3:03 into the second stanza with what would prove to be the eventual game-winner as the Amerks couldn't rally back from their one-goal deficit.
The Amerks return home on Friday, January 14th as they play host to the Lake Erie Monsters at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. North Division showdown will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. The contest will also be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.
