Springfield Falcons News Release

The Springfield Falcons rebounded in a big way on Saturday night scoring five first period goals on their way to an impressive 7-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers in front of 4,066 at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons have now earned a point in seven of their last nine games going 5-2-0-2 in that span.

The Falcons received a strong night from the line of Chris D'Alvise, Nikita Filatov and Maksim Mayorov, who combined for four goals and three assists for seven points and all three players earning a star.

Springfield came out fast and furious in the first period and used five goals to take a 5-0 lead. Newly acquired Trevor Smith scored his first goal in a Falcons uniform just 1:04 into the game, followed by D'Alvise scoring on the power play at 8:59 of the first period opening up a 2-0 lead. Less than a minute later, David Savard scored his third marker of the year, followed by Tomas Kubalik scoring his 10th goal of the year. Mayorov ended the scoring in the first period with his 10th marker on the campaign set up on a nice feed from Filatov.

Filatov gave the Falcons a 6-0 lead at 4:01 of the second period when he converted on a breakaway assisted by Cody Goloubef.

Charlotte would cut their deficit to 6-2 on goals from Chris Terry and Riley Nash, but D'Alvise scored his second goal of the game midway through the third period giving Springfield a 7-2 advantage.
