
P-Bruins Earn Point Against Penguins

Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Providence Bruins earned a point falling in overtime to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2-1 Saturday evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. The P-Bruins got their goal from Jeremy Reich. Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Thundersticks Night against the Binghamton Senators.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead only 39 seconds into the opening period. Jordan Caron had the puck at the right point and sent it halfway down the boards for Zach Hamill. He sent a centering pass to Reich, who put the puck into the net for his seventh goal of the season. The Penguins tied the game at one at the 7:27 mark. Joe Vitale tallied his eighth goal of the season, while Nick Johnson and Eric Tangradi recorded the assists. The game went into the first intermission tied at one. After scoreless second and third periods, the game went into overtime. At the 2:58 mark, Dustin Jeffrey netted his 15th goal of the season, with Brett Sterling and Robert Bortuzzo recording the assists. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton went onto the 2-1 victory.
Nolan Schaefer stopped 49 of 51 shots for the P-Bruins, while Brad Thiessen made 18 saves for the Penguins. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 6-for-6 on the penalty kill.
