San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 6, 2014) - The American Hockey League announced today that Rampage right wing Bobby Butler and center Drew Shore have been named to the Western Conference All-Star roster for the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic, which is set to take place Jan. 25-26 in Utica, N.Y.
This marks the first time in franchise history that San Antonio has had two players selected to represent the team in the All-Star Classic. Butler and Shore are among 12 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders representing the Western Conference and the 13th and 14th selections in the history of the Rampage organization.
The 2015 AHL All-Star Classic will pit the top players from the Eastern Conference against the best of the Western Conference.
Butler will be making his second All-Star Classic appearance. He represented the Binghamton Senators as a rookie in 2011 and potted a goal and three assists to earn game MVP honors and lead the Eastern Conference to an 11-8 win.
With 14 goals and 17 assists in 31 games for the Rampage this season, Butler is tied for fifth in the league in points (31) and third in the league in goals. Last season was Butler's first with the Rampage after being acquired by the Florida Panthers in a trade with the Nashville Predators on June 14, 2013. The 6-0, 189-pound Marlborough, Mass. native tallied 22 goals and 25 assists in 69 games for the Silver and Black and skated in two games with the Panthers.
This is also the second All-Star selection for Shore, who previously represented the Rampage at the 2013 AHL All-Star Classic. The 6-2, 190-pound Littleton, Colo. native has tallied nine goals and 21 assists in 33 games for San Antonio, putting him in a tie for sixth in the league in points (30) and sixth in assists. Florida's second-round (44th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Shore notched six goals and 26 assists in 50 games for San Antonio last season and played in 24 games with Florida, recording five goals and two assists.
The 2015 AHL All-Star Classic will take place Jan. 25-26, with the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. (CT) and the All-Star Game being played on Monday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. (CT) at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The Western Conference All-Stars will be coached by Utica's Travis Green and Chicago coach John Anderson.
The Rampage take on the Adirondack Flames at 6 p.m. tonight at the Blue Cross Arena. San Antonio will return home against the Iowa Wild on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. It will be Value Night at the AT&T Center, as packages of four tickets with hot dogs, chips and sodas can be purchased for $40.
