Blue Jackets Assign Adam Cracknell and Michael Chaput to Falcons

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated right wing Cam Atkinson and center Mark Letestu off Injured Reserve and assigned right wing Adam Cracknell and center Michael Chaput to the Springfield Falcons, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Atkinson, 25, has missed three games since suffering an injury vs. Boston on Dec. 27. The Riverside, Connecticut native has registered eight goals and six assists for 14 points and eight penalty minutes in 33 games with the Blue Jackets this season. Columbus eighth pick, 157th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft, Atkinson has collected 45-41-86 and 44 penalty minutes in 174 career NHL games. He registered career highs in goals, points and games played with 21-19-40 and 18 penalty minutes in 79 games last season.

Letestu, 29, has missed 28 games due to groin and abdominal injuries and underwent surgery on Dec. 2. He has tallied 3-2-5 in nine games this season after setting career highs in assists, points and games played a year ago with 12-22-34 in 82 games. The Elk Point, Alberta native has registered 54-65-119 and 53 penalty minutes in 273 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Cracknell, 29, picked up an assist and two penalty minutes in 17 games this season after being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings on October 7. He has appeared in 82 career NHL games with Columbus and the St. Louis Blues, registering 6-11-17 and 14 penalty minutes. The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native has also notched 87-113-200 and 220 penalty minutes in 375 career AHL games.

Chaput, 22, has collected 1-4-5 and 21 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Blue Jackets this season, scoring his first career NHL goal vs. the Washington Capitals on December 18. He made his NHL debut with Columbus in 2013-14 and picked up one assist in 17 games. The Ile Bizard, Quebec native was acquired by the Blue Jackets with Greg Moore from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Tom Sestito on Feb. 28, 2012. He has tallied 32-45-77 and 108 penalty minutes in 128 career AHL games with Springfield over the past two seasons.
