Canadiens Assign Bryan Allen to Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QUE. - Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs general manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Canadiens have assigned defenceman Bryan Allen to the Bulldogs.

Allen has split this season between the Canadiens, the Anaheim Ducks and the Ducks' American Hockey League affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. In five games with Montreal, he has one assist and two penalty minutes. In six games with Anaheim, the 6-5, 223-pound defenceman recorded one assist and four penalty minutes. In two games with Norfolk, the Kingston, Ont. native recorded no points or penalty minutes.

In 721 career NHL regular season games with the Canadiens, Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks, Allen has recorded 136 points (29 goals, 107 assists) and 839 penalty minutes. In 86 career AHL regular season games with the Admirals, Manitoba Moose and Syracuse Crunch, the 34-year-old has recorded 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) and 136 penalty minutes.

Allen was originally selected by the Canucks in the first round (fourth overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Canadiens from the Ducks in exchange for Rene Bourque on Nov. 20, 2014.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 9 when they'll host the Utica Comets at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
